I started collecting just a few classic arcade ROM's and emulators
back in 1999; games everyone knew from the '70's, 80's, 90's, ...
such as Pac-Man and Defender. Though the actual game software
was 100% accurate when compared to the original, there was always
something missing when trying to play it on a standard PC so it was
time for a real arcade cabinet.
Over that time, my collection grew to over
5,061 games, and so did the hobby in general,
including the latest additions of classic
Nintendo games and
Jukebox capability. There are
now over 100 software developers around the world working for free
on MAME alone, and many companies making hardware products that
make playing the games more realistic. To get an idea of how
many games have been added to MAME over time, take a look at
this. This compilation of
information and links should explain what this is all about, or help you if
you want to try your own hand at it. Enjoy ... PS - You might want to try some of these Easter Eggs too ! |
